How to Summarize Standups
Engineering standups are essential to ensure team alignment and progress tracking in Agile methodologies. Taking precise and organized notes can help engineers stay on track, remember important updates, and facilitate communication within the team. Good documentation also aids in identifying blockers early and keeping project timelines intact.
But what should you include in your meeting notes? We have compiled a list of key points to include in your meeting notes.

- Team and Participants: Who were the participants in the standup meeting, and what roles do they play within the team?
- Objectives: What were the primary objectives or goals discussed during this standup?
- Progress Updates: What updates on current tasks or projects did each participant provide?
- Challenges and Roadblocks: Were there any challenges or roadblocks mentioned, and if so, how are they being addressed?
- Deadlines and Milestones: Were any deadlines or milestones discussed, and what are their expected completion dates?
- Resources Needed: Did anyone mention needing additional resources or support to complete their tasks?
- Next Steps and Actions Items: What are the next steps or action items that were agreed upon during the meeting?
- Dependencies and Collaboration Needs: Are there any dependencies between team members' tasks that require coordination or collaboration?

Here's how:
- If you don't already have a voice recorder that allows you to customize your summaries, download LazyNotes from the App Store.
- Navigate to Settings > Meeting Templates and tap the + button.
- Copy/paste one of our templates and/or customize your own. Tap Save.
- Start your first recording and choose your new template any time during the call.
- Enjoy customized notes emailed right to your mailbox!
